Introduction

Back when the world was young and at least beer was still cheap these chaps were sitting in the Cricketers Arms. "We need a cheap motor sport" said one, "Everybody has a lawn mower" said Jim Gavin, "lets race those". So they did, and it was good!

The BLMRA was founded in 1973 in the Cricketers Arms, a pub in  Wisborough Green, by bunch of sporting enthusiasts bemoaning the ever increasing costs in all form of motor sport. This new and eccentric sport became an almost overnight success and after just two or three events in the first few years the association soon became responsible for upwards of a dozen events each season.

The main aims of the association are to provide  well organised and inexpensive motor sport. Racing takes place between May and October. There are afternoon meetings, the season long national championships, the British Grand Prix, the annual 12 Hour race and world championships at the end of every year.

We also have monthly noggin and natter nights at the Cricketers Arms in Wisborough Green, a  regular newsletter and social events such as the annual Grasscutters Ball.

We are a non profit making organisation and any monies raised from events is given to charities. The BLMRA is run primarily for fun loving enthusiasts. It is an amateur sport (although run in a professional way) and there are no cash prizes. Commercialism is discouraged. Anyone who wants to compete, or just be involved, we will be made most welcome.
