29th June - 5th July 2000 THE RIDER CUP COMES TO BRITAIN BLMRA 152 points - USLMRA 105 points In August 99 members of the US Lawn Mower Racing Association came to England to compete in our annual 12 Hour race. Their visit was hugely successful and resulted in a return visit by The British Lawn Mower Racing Association. The event, nicknamed, "The Mowllennium Mowdown" by our counterpart Bruce Kaufman of the USLMRA, is formally called "The Rider Cup!". The event was held as part of "The Eyes to The Skies Balloon Festival" in Lisle close to Chicago. The Americans did not know what had hit them as our team of drivers won just about every race they entered even when up against the more powerful local machines. Thanks to Dave Painter of Hot Under The Collar productions for the following photos. Ian Tanswell, Barry Stemp and Colin Fox Ian Tanswell sandwiched between two American machines, but not for long! Jason Kanobus showing two Americans how to drive! Bobby Cleveland on his 20hp monster Thanks Bobby, better luck next year!
